Each Other

collect on:

Each Other’s debut record is a nod to the golden age of clubs in New York. As the production project of two legends of the scene, Justin Strauss and Max Pask, the pair know a thing or two about clubland in the Big Apple.

Strauss is one of the most influential and enduring musical figures in NYC, from playing in the `70s power-pop band Milk ‘N’ Cookies to spinning at some of the most iconic clubs including Mudd Club, Limelight, and Area. As his reputation grew, he moved into production, remixing everyone from Depeche Mode and Duran Duran to LCD Soundsystem and Blood Orange.

“You don’t realise that these periods were becoming important markers in history when we were living through them,” Strauss said. “It only comes later with the added benefit of time. I hope that in years to come, history will find a place for what we’re doing now.”

Pask was born in Paris but has built a reputation in NYC since moving in 2000. He has remixed the likes of Soulwax, The Rapture, and WhoMadeWho, and runs the Throne of Blood Records with James Friedman.

Having often played together over the years, Strauss and Pask decided to share their love of eclectic sounds as Each Other. The Be Nice To Each Other EP showcased their range in just three tracks, from hypnotic, minimal beats in “Same As It Ever Was,” to sci-fi dystopian rhythms in “Burn It Down,” and a jittery, sparkling synth number as the closer, “Six Weeks.”

The EP was released last year on Soulwax’s DEEWEE label and the pair haven’t slowed down since. They have done remixes for Moscoman, Kasper Bjørke, and Holy Ghost and have remixes coming out for Midnight Magic and Phenomenal Handclap Band coming out this year.

Strauss and Pask have shared some of the music that has been the Each Other mood for their Greylist.
