While some people say that disco died at the end of the `70s, JKriv and Aaron Dae think otherwise. After bonding over a mutual affection of all things groovy, they founded Razor-N-Tape, a record label that has helped shape the sound of modern disco.
From humble beginnings in Brooklyn, the label has made sonic waves all over the world. Since 2012 they have put out 67 releases from disco heavyweights like Late Night Tuff Guy, Dimitri from Brooklyn (aka Dimitri From Paris), and Jacques Renault -- plus a further 50+ releases on their sub labels by the likes of Mr K (aka Danny Krivit), Ron Basejam and Eli Escobar. Their catalog includes both original productions and disco/house edits, making them one of the most respected underground dance music labels today.
When JKriv and Dae aren’t busy in the studio or finding new talent, they DJ. Pre-pandemic, they could be found at New York hotspots like Good Room, Le Bain, Elsewhere, and Black Flamingo. They are the kind of DJs that make you want to put your hands in the air like you just don’t care, effortlessly blending old and new records, with a smile.
While we wait for them to return to the dancefloor, JKriv and Dae have brought their signature style to our Greylist series, picking eight tracks for your ears to enjoy.
